Windshield Protection Film in Vancouver

Your windshield takes the worst of Metro Vancouver driving. Gravel on Highway 1 and the Sea-to-Sky, winter road grit, and construction debris chip and pit the glass — and on a modern car, a windshield replacement is no longer a cheap piece of glass. Cameras and sensors behind the glass often need recalibration after a replacement, which adds time and cost on top of the glass itself.

Windshield protection film is a clear protective film applied to the OUTSIDE of the windshield. It takes the hits — rock chips, pitting, and road rash — so your factory glass doesn’t. At SolidNova Auto we install XPEL Windshield Protection Film at our Vancouver studio, and a typical installation takes about 90 minutes.

Why drivers add it

Rock-chip protection: the film absorbs the impact that would otherwise chip or star-crack the glass.
No more pitting: fine sand and grit blast slowly turns a windshield hazy; the film takes that wear instead of the glass.
Keeps the factory windshield: original glass keeps its factory seal and the driver-assistance cameras behind it stay undisturbed — no replacement, no recalibration visit.
Clear, not tint: this is a transparent protective film on the exterior surface. It is not window tint and does not darken the glass.

A natural fit for Tesla and premium cars

Large, steeply raked windshields — Tesla Model 3 and Model Y especially — catch more road debris and cost more to replace. We regularly protect Teslas and premium vehicles at the studio, and windshield film pairs naturally with paint protection film: glass and paint protected in a single visit.

How installation works

The windshield is deep-cleaned and prepared, the film is fitted to the exterior glass, and edges are finished so the film sits clean and nearly invisible. Most installations are completed in about 90 minutes, and you drive away the same day. Wiper use and normal washing are fine; we will walk you through simple care notes before you leave.

FAQ

Is windshield protection film the same as window tint?

No. Tint is applied inside the cabin glass to reduce heat and glare; windshield protection film is a clear film applied to the outside of the windshield to protect the glass itself from chips and pitting.

Will it affect visibility or my car’s cameras and sensors?

The film is optically clear and sits on the exterior surface, so cameras and sensors behind the glass are unaffected.

How long does installation take?

About 90 minutes for most vehicles.

What happens when the film wears out?

The film is the sacrificial layer — when it has taken enough hits, it can be removed and replaced, while the original windshield underneath stays in place.

Can I combine it with PPF or tint?

Yes. Many customers protect the windshield in the same visit as paint protection film or window tint. One appointment, one drop-off.

Do you offer mobile installation for windshield film?

Our mobile service covers window tinting; windshield protection film is installed at our Vancouver studio so the fit and finish stay perfect. We are open daily, 8 AM to 8 PM, at 5482 Rhodes St, Vancouver.
